Your Faded Photos Still Hold the Story — Let's Bring It Back.
Faded Photo Restoration Service
Old photographs lose their color and contrast over time — but the memory inside them doesn't have to disappear. We digitally restore faded photos to reveal the depth, detail, and warmth they once had.
What Does a Faded Photo Actually Look Like?
Fading happens slowly. Most people don't notice until they pull an old photo out of a box and barely recognize it. Here's what to look for:
Overall color washout — the whole image looks pale, bleached, or washed out. Colors that used to be bold now look white or ghostly. That bright birthday dress. That green backyard. Gone.
Yellow or brown discoloration — the photo has taken on a warm, muddy tone. This is very common in prints from the 1960s through the 1980s. The portrait of your parents on their wedding day — now barely visible through a yellowish haze.
Faded faces and lost detail — skin tones look flat and gray. Eyes have lost their sharpness. Background details have nearly disappeared. The people you love are still there — but just barely.
Patchy or uneven fading — one side of the photo looks almost fine. The other side has nearly vanished. This happens when photos are stored near a window, in direct sun, or in a humid space like a garage or basement.
Silver mirroring — older black and white prints sometimes develop a silvery, metallic sheen over dark areas. It's a sign of age and improper storage, and it makes the image hard to read clearly.
"If you hold your photo up and struggle to make out the faces, that's exactly the kind of fading we fix every day."

Frequently Asked Questions About Faded Photo Restoration
Can you restore a photo that has completely faded to white?
1
In most cases, yes. If detail still exists in the image, even faintly, we can work to recover and rebuild it. Severely faded photos where no detail remains may have limitations, which we'll communicate upfront before any work begins.
Do you restore both color and black-and-white faded photos?
2
Absolutely. We restore faded black-and-white photos, faded color prints, and can even colorize black-and-white images if you'd like to see them in color for the first time.
How do I send you my faded photo?
3
A high-resolution scan (600 DPI or higher) sent through our website is the easiest method. If you're unsure how to scan, we'll walk you through it. You can also mail us the original if preferred.
How long does faded photo restoration take?
4
Most restorations are completed and delivered within 3–5 business days. Rush turnaround is available upon request.
Do you serve clients outside the Bay Area?
5
Yes. While we're proudly based in the San Francisco Bay Area, we serve clients throughout California and across the USA through our fully online service.
