Water Damage Photo Repair in California

A flood, a burst pipe, a basement leak, or even years stored in a humid closet, each leaves behind visible destruction: stains, warping, mold, stuck prints, and color that bleeds and disappears. But in most cases, the memory inside the photo can still be saved. We digitally repair water damaged photos by hand, so your family history can lost forever.

At “Bay Area Photo Restoration”, I'm Jeremy Blum. Since 2018, I've personally restored water-damaged photographs for families, historical societies, and institutions across California and the United States. Every photo is handled by me directly — no AI filters, no automated tools, no outsourcing. Just careful, skilled work that respects what your photo means to you.

What Does Water Damage Look Like on a Photo?

Water damage is not just surface-level. It affects the chemical layers of a photograph. Here's what you're likely seeing:

  1. Water stains and tide marks — brown or yellow ring-shaped marks left behind as water dried on the photo surface

  2. Warped or wavy photos — the paper has buckled, bent, or curled from getting wet

  3. Stuck or bonded photos — photos that were stored together got wet and fused to each other or to an album page

  4. Mold or mildew spots — dark fuzzy patches that grew after the photo stayed damp too long

  5. Color bleeding or streaking — ink or dye ran across the image, smearing faces and backgrounds

  6. Surface peeling or flaking — the top layer of the photo has started to lift or crack after drying

Even photos that look destroyed can often be partially or fully restored. The key is not waiting — and not trying to separate stuck photos yourself, which causes permanent damage.

How I Restore Water-Damaged Photos

You send us your photo — scan it carefully at home or mail the original; we guide you through both options

  1. We look at every type of damage — water stains, mold, color bleed, and surface issues are all checked individually

  2. We repair by hand, digitally — stains are removed, color is rebuilt, warped areas are corrected, and lost detail is restored pixel by pixel

  3. You review and approve — we show you the repaired version before we finish; revisions are included

  4. You get a clean, high-resolution file — ready to print, frame, or share

Common Questions About Water Damage Photo Repair

Can a completely soaked or ruined photo be saved?

1

Often, yes. Even heavily damaged photos can be digitally restored if the underlying image is at least partially visible. Send me your photo and I'll give you an honest answer — not just a sales pitch.

Do I need to mail my original photo?

2

No. A clear smartphone photo or a scan works for most projects. I'll guide you on how to do it for your specific photo.

What if my photos are stuck together or stuck to glass?

3

Do not try to separate them yourself — this causes permanent damage. Photograph them as-is and send me the image. I'll work from what's visible and advise on next steps.

How long does water damage restoration take?

4

Most projects complete within 5–10 business days. Rush service (2–3 business days) is available if you have an urgent need.

Do you serve clients outside California?

5

Can I request changes?

6

Yes. I work with clients across the entire United States. You can upload photos through our secure contact form or mail your originals — I return them safely with protective packaging.

Absolutely. We send you a preview first. Request any changes, and we'll make them before final delivery.
